DEFENDING champion San Sebastian College bucked an error-filled showing to subdue Letran, 25-14, 21-25, 25-21, 25-18, and moved closer in achieving a ‘six-peat’ in the NCAA women’s volleyball tournament last night at the Emilio Aguinaldo College Gym.

LETRAN completed a three-game semifinals sweep by nipping defending champion San Sebastian College, 22-25, 25-18, 25-13, 25-27, 15-5, in their finals preview Saturday in the NCAA women’s volleyball tournament at the Emilio Aguinaldo College Gym.

Manel Carolino sizzled with 24 hits, including four service aces, while skipper Lalaine Villarin added 17 points, including three blocks, and Melissa Cu had 15 hits for the Lady Knights.

With a powerhouse line-up led by sisters Michelle and Mayette Carolino, Letran last won the championship in the 1998-99 season. Read the rest of this entry »

EVERYTHING is all set for the second leg of the 20-team Petron Ladies Beach Volleyball Tournament slated next month at Baybay in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

Expected to join are three teams from La Salle-Dasmariñas, two squads from Ateneo, University of the East, Letran, Far Eastern University and San Beda College of Manila.

Puerto Princesa will also field two teams just like what the city did in the recent editions.

In the first leg held last month, the Lady Eagles pair of Asia Urquico and Jessica Morado turned back Philippine Christian University- Dasmariñas hotshots Ana Alicia Adolfo and Alyanna Marie Gorospe, 21-10, 19-21, 15-7, at the sand court of the De La Salle-Health Sciences Institute campus in Dasmariñas, Cavite.
