PLAYING with different partners this time, the pair of Pau Genido and Amanda Isada of University of the Philippines are favored to run away with the title in the second leg of the 2011 Petron Ladies beach volleyball tournament this weekend in Puerto Princesa city.
Genido will be teaming up with Aya del Mundo, while Isada is paired with Carmela Lopez as all four banners the two squads carrying the colors of University of the Philippines.

Isada and Genido teamed up together in ruling the second leg of the same spikefest two years ago.  The Lady Maroons are just two of the 10 teams seeing action in the April 28-29 competitions which return to the Beachwalk of this scenic city of Palawan.

Genido expressed confidence at the weekly PSA Forum in Shakey’s U.N. Ave. of winning the leg despite having a new playing partner, who is the team’s setter in indoor volleyball. “Kaunting practice lang makukuha namin ito,” said the 19-year old Genido. Read the rest of this entry »

PHILIPPINE Christian University-Dasmarinas and the Rizal Technological University came up with big plays to steer their respective teams to victory yesterday in the start of the first leg of the 2011 Petron Ladies Beach Volleyball Tournament.
Returning finalists Alyanna Marie Gorospe and Ana Alicia Adolfo displayed a steadier pace as they waylaid RTU ace Julienne Abat and her new partner Marilie Borras, 21-17, Thursday at the sand courts of the University of the East-Caloocan campus. Read the rest of this entry »

THE Philippine Christian University-Dasmarinas pair of Ana Alicia Adolfo and Alyanna Marie Gorospe hopes to complete an unfinished business in the Petron Ladies Beach volleyball tournament, whose opening leg of the 2011 edition kicks off this week at the UE Caloocan sand court.

The duo came up short in the same leg of the annual meet last year, finishing runner up behind eventual champions Asia Urquico and Jessica Morado of Ateneo. Read the rest of this entry »

THE 2010 Petron Ladies Beach Volleyball Tournament returns to Lingayen, Pangasinan this weekend.

So is defending champion Jennifer Manzano, who is more than eager to retain the crown she won last year in the third leg.

Manzano will rely on her familiarity of the conditions when she plunges and her new partner Satchel Senupe plunges into action on Thursday at the beach front of the Purok Marcelo Resort.

The 5-foot-11 Manzano and Senupe will seek a slot to the Battle of Champions along with 11 other teams which are entered in the two-day spikefest which is supported by Speedo, Mikasa, the Sports Development Program of Pangasinan, Fern-C and Petron.
