SAN Sebastian College-Excelroof refused to give up and struck back with a 24-26, 25-23, 25-22, 25-20 victory over Adamson, forcing a winner-take-all match in their showdown for the Shakey’s V-League second conference crown before a big Sunday afternoon crowd at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

Thai import Jeng Bualee rammed in 27 points output while three others scored in twin digits as the Lady Stags finally got back at the Lady Falcons after three losses in the season-ending conference.

The victory, fashioned out in one-hour and 43 minutes of power and quick plays and long rallies, thus sent the best-of-three series into a rubber match on Thursday.

The Lady Stags may have took another a heartbreaking five-set defeat to the Adamson in the opener of their best-of-three series for the Shakey’s V-League Season 7 second conference crown last Thursday.

But Gorayeb said they need to toughen up on defense and be more aggressive in their attack to finally stop the Lady Falcons on Sunday and force a winner-take-all match at the Filoil Flying C Arena in San Juan.

SAN Sebastian College-Excelroof and Adamson moved a win away in arranging a championship showdown after beating their foes in Game 1 of the Shakey’s V-League second conference semifinals Thursday at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

The Lady Stags bucked the sidelining of setter Jennelyn Belen and pounced on the absence of Far Eastern University’s top hitter Rachel Anne Daquis as it fashioned out a 30-28, 25-16, 22-25, 25-20 victory.
The Lady Falcons outlasted Lyceum in a thrilling five-setter in the second game, escaping with a 25-13, 17-25, 25-11, 24-26, 15-7 win.

Nene Bautista outhit Mary Jean Balse, 23-20, in a duel of former MVPs, while Michelle Laborte had 17 and Pau Soriano and Angela Benting shot 16 points apiece for Adamson, which kept their win run going after sweeping the quarterfinal phase.

SAN Sebastian College-Excelroof overwhelmed Far Eastern University with its power game to essay a straight-set 25-22, 25-9, 25-17 romp and clinched a Final Four berth in the Shakey’s V-League second conference at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan Sunday.

Thai import Jeng Bualee and Suzanne Roces combined for 27 of the Lady Stags’ 45 kills that almost doubled the Lady Tamaraws’ measly 24-attack effort in a 64 minute encounter that was close only in the opening set.

The Recto-based tossers doubled their effort in the second, holding their rivals to just nine points before sustaining their attacking form in the third to complete the victory, their eighth against two loss.

By achieving its 11th semifinals appearance,
San Sebastian thus broke away from a tie with Adamson (7-2) for the lead.

FEU’s semifinal bid, on the other hand, is in limbo after suffering its fifth setback in nine games to trail one and a half game behind the fourth-running Lyceum (5-3).

Bualee finished with 18 points while Roces had 10 and Elaine Cruz, Bamcie Belen, Joy Benito and Melissa Mirasol combined for 24 hits for the Lady Stags.
