PUERTO PRINCESA CITY – Jessica Paron and new partner Francislyn Cais came up with timely offensive moves to power University of the East-1 to a 21-18, 21-17 repulsing of University of the Philippines-2’s Pau Genido and new teammate Liezchel Tiu. THE best of the best face cross paths next week in the Battle of Champions, the final leg of the 2011 Petron Ladies beach volleyball tournament at Baywalk in the City of Puerto Princesa. Champions and runners up in the previous three legs compete against each other in the Oct. 11 to 12 meet featuring seven teams from Manilaand three others from the host city.
Top bets from Letran and De La Salle University-Dasmarinas are expected to crowd each other for the title and the bragging rights as this year’s `Queen of the Beach.’ Letran is bannered by Manel Carolino and new partner Sarah Jane Espelita. Carolino with Gena Andaya as partner, took runner-up honors behind back-to-back champions Jennifer Manzano and Satchel Senupe in

2011 Petron Ladies Beach Volley 2ndLeg

PLAYING with different partners this time, the pair of Pau Genido and Amanda Isada of University of the Philippines are favored to run away with the title in the second leg of the 2011 Petron Ladies beach volleyball tournament this weekend in Puerto Princesa city.
Genido will be teaming up with Aya del Mundo, while Isada is paired with Carmela Lopez as all four banners the two squads carrying the colors of University of the Philippines.
Isada and Genido teamed up together in ruling the second leg of the same spikefest two years ago. The Lady Maroons are just two of the 10 teams seeing action in the April 28-29 competitions which return to the Beachwalk of this scenic city of Palawan.
Genido expressed confidence at the weekly PSA Forum in Shakey’s U.N. Ave. of winning the leg despite having a new playing partner, who is the team’s setter in indoor volleyball. “Kaunting practice lang makukuha namin ito,” said the 19-year old Genido. Read the rest of this entry »
