ACTION in the NCAA women’s volleyball tournament, after all, will resume next week.
The league on Tuesday canceled the matches slated on January 6 and 7 due to the unavailability of the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Last Monday, the NCAA called off the six-game bill which was supposed to be played today at the Malate venue.
“(The) flooring coating is still wet and the gym is (only) playable by January 15,” said the league statement.
Frank Gusi, the vice-chairman of the NCAA volleyball event, said the tournament will return after a long Christmas break on January 9, where the temporary venue will be announced before the end of the week.
University of Perpetual Help System Dalta has already advanced in the women’s division semifinals with a 7-0 card, followed by Emilio Aguinaldo College and defending champion San Sebastian College, which both have 5-1 and 5-2 records, respectively.
San Beda College is on track for a second straight semis stint with a fourth-running 4-2 slate.
With identical 3-3 records in fifth place, Lyceum, Arellano University and Letran are still in contention for a place in the next round.
In the men’s side, titleholder Altas and Season 86 runner-up Chiefs, both unbeaten in six matches, have already assured of semis berths. (TJ)
