UNIVERSITY of Perpetual Help System Dalta carried its unbeaten run in the NCAA women’s volleyball semifinals by subduing Emilio Aguinaldo College, 25-19, 25-18, 25-13 Wednesday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.Later, Letran remained on track for a second straight finals stint with a 25-17, 20-25, 26-24, 25-21 decision of reigning six-time champion San Sebastian College.
The Lady Stags were paced by reigning two-time MVP Joy Benito with 22 hits.
Honey Royse Tubino unloaded 13 hits, including four blocks, while Sandra delos Santos added 10 points for the Lady Altas, who copped their 10th straight win dating back to the elimination round.
Perpetual Help libero Angelique Dionela also played big by contributing 17 digs.
Unlike their five-set win against the Lady Generals in the elims, the Lady Altas simply dominated the match which lasted for only one hour and four minutes.
“Challenge ko sa mga bata na manalo ng straight sets. Ibang level na ang semifinals, mahirap ang mag-relax,” said Perpetual Help mentor Mike Rafael.
Charmille Belleza had nine hits while Annelyn Arroyo added hits for EAC, which is making its second straight ‘Final Four’ stint.
From a close 9-8 lead, an 8-0 run by the Lady Altas in the second frame sealed the deal.
In the men’s division, Marcelo Joaquin scattered 10 of his 13 hits from attacks as defending champion Perpetual Help (1-0) turned back College of Saint Benilde (0-1), 25-13, 25-14, 25-23, to boost its bid for a second straight finals stint.
Lorenzo Capate had 18 hits while Jay-R Loria, Gilbert Ablan and Carlo Rodriguez chipped in 11 points apiece as San Beda College shocked Arellano University, 25-19, 27-25, 13-25, 28-26, in the other men’s match.
In juniors play, elims topnotcher EAC (1-0) beat Arellano University (0-1), 25-21, 25-21, 26-24, behind Jopet Movido’s 15.
