WITH the game slowly slipping away, Vietnam held steadier in the end to become the V-League Southeast Asia Club Invitational champions.
Russian reinforcements Anactaxia Trernai and Ekaterina Martynova steered Vietnam to a come-from-behind 18-25, 14-25, 25-22, 25-23, 15-8 win over Philippine Army in the finals Sunday night at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
Trernai led the way for Vietnamese with 24 points while Martynova, who was named the tournament MVP, chipped in 17 hits.
“After we lost the first two sets, we did not stop. Everybody worked hard and they gave everything,” said the 24-year old Trernai, who has a previous stint in Cyprus. Read the rest of this entry »
