UNIVERSITY of Perpetual Help System Dalta begins its bid for a ‘three-peat’ in the women’s division in the NCAA beach volleyball tournament Saturday at the La Salle Greenhills sand court.

April Ann Sartin and Norie Diaz join forces this season for the Lady Altas after Keshia de Luna, the two-time MVP, completed her playing years.

Perpetual Help will face Arellano University’s Mary Jane Diane Ticar and Jeanilyn Lunar in the morning match at 9 a.m., and the San Beda College tandem of Coline Malana and Janine Marciano at 2:20 p.m.  The Chiefs start their bid for a second straight title in the men’s division, while the Junior Altas go for a third successive title in the juniors side of the event. AMERICAN reinforcement Lauren Ford fired 27 hits while Thai import Jeng Bualee added 22 points as San Sebastian College turned back Ateneo, 24-26, 25-21, 25-16, 25-10, and advance to the quarterfinals of the Shakey’s V-League Open Conference on Tuesday at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

“It’s different playing here but the league is so competitive,” said Ford, who had previous stints in Spain, Finland, Germany and Switzerland.

SKIPPER Fille Cainglet fired 17 points as Ateneo registered its second successive straight sets win in the Shakey’s V-League Open Conference with a 25-23, 25-17, 25-21 decision of University of Perpetual Help System Dalta Tuesday at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

In the first game, Philippine Army rebounded from a first set loss to turn back Philippine Navy, 23-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-23.

“Maganda ang iginagalaw ng mga bata.  Satisfied naman ako sa ginagawa nila, although kailangan lamang ayusin na lamang ng mga bata yung receiving,” said Lady Eagles coach Parley Tupaz.
