ADAMSON and National University kept their joint hold of third spot after beating separate foes Wednesday in the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
Angela Benting and Pau Soriano combined for 32 points markers as the Lady Falcons dealt Ateneo its third straight setback with a 25-22, 26-24, 25-21 win.
Cai Nepomuceno uncorked a career-high 27 hits as the Lady Bulldogs roared to a second straight win with a 25-18, 25-17, 20-25, 25-11 blasting of University of the East.
Adamson and NU improved to 3-2 to stay within striking distance of defending champion University of Santo Tomas and La Salle.
The Tigresses and the Lady Archers are unbeaten in four starts.
Making up from her absence the last time out, skipper Mervic Mangui chipped in 13 points for the Lady Bulldogs.
“Masaya ako sa tatlong panalo namin pero we have to improve with a lot of things in our game,” said NU rookie mentor Francis Vicente.
“Ang maganda sa team ko right now, nandoon na ang positive attitude, pukpok na lang sa ensayo ang kailangan,” he added.
Kite Rosale had 12 points, while Jimberly Dizon and Teresa Caballero contributed nine hits apiece for the Lady Warriors.
UE, which suffered its first losing streak of the season, slipped to 2-3 record.
Dzi Gervacio was the lone Lady Eagle in twin digits with 14 hits.
Ateneo fell to seventh place with a 1-4 mark.
In the men’s division, University of the Philippines defeated Ateneo, 25-9, 25-23, 25-21, while Adamson scored a 25-12, 25-23, 27-25 decision of NU. (TJ)
