Tigresses win UAAP opener, Lady Bulldogs score
SKIPPER Aiza Maizo fired a career-high 32 hits as defending champion University of Santo Tomas escaped with a thrilling 25-13, 18-25, 19-25, 26-24, 15-13 win over Ateneo Saturday night in the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
A Bea Pascual kill allowed the Lady Eagles to inch closer to 13-14 when the Tigresses won the match highlighted by long rallies with Maizo banging in a left-handed kill.
Maizo’s scoring performance was the highest since Adamson’s Angela Benting uncorked a league-record 33 hits in a 25-22, 16-25, 25-27, 23-25 second round eliminations loss to UST last Feb. 14, 2009. Read the rest of this entry »

The Tigresses and the Lady Eagles slug it out at 4 p.m.
