SAN Sebastian College-Excelroof achieved its first step to win the Shakey’s V-League second conference championship.
The Lady Stags booked the quarterfinals berth by trampling National University, 25-15, 25-18, 25-14, Sunday at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
Favored to win the season-ending tournament with the absence of six-time champion University of Santo Tomas, San Sebastian bounced back from a five-set loss to Adamson last Thursday to improve to 5-1.
Thai import Jeng Bualee fired 19 hits while Joy Benito added 10 points for the Lady Stags.
Guest player Dindin Santiago collected nine hits while Maricar Nepomuceno added six markers for the Lady Bulldogs.
NU fell to 2-3 slate to suffer a bump on its bid for a quarterfinals stint in the tournament sponsored by Shakey’s Pizza and backed Accel, Mikasa and Excelroof.
