ATENEO went thru the wringer before slipping past University of Perpetual Help System Dalta, 25-15, 14-25, 20-25 25-18, 15-12 and join San Sebastian College-Excelroof for the lead in the Shakey’s V-League second conference Sunday night at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
Gretchen Ho sealed the deal with a quick hit which served as the match point for the Lady Eagles, who improved to 2-0 along with the Lady Stags.
On Thursday, Ateneo and San Sebastian collide for the top spot in the season-ending tournament organized by Sports Vision, sponsored by Shakey’s Pizza and supported by Accel, Mikasa and Excelroof.
Thai import Boonyuen Surasawadee uncorked 23 points while guest player Alyssa Valdez added 14 hits in her second game for the Lady Eagles.
The Lady Altas fell to 1-1 mark.
In the first game, alumna Rachel Daquis sizzled as Far Eastern University barged into the win column with a 25-20, 25-17, 21-25, 25-22 victory over College of Saint Benilde.
The Lady Tamaraws sealed the deal when Daquis unloaded two critical hits to end a two-game losing streak and deal the Lady Blazers their third straight setback.

Daquis fired 25 hits, including 11 in the fourth set, while guest player Michelle Carolino added 20 points, including two blocks for FEU.
The Lady Tamaraws won despite losing Monique Tiangco, who got injured in the opening set after going for a dig.
“Hindi naman kami masyadong nabahala. Kasama naman sa practice namin kahit wala sya (Tiangco) sa rotation kapalit ni Kathlene Magsumbol,” said FEU mentor Nes Pamilar.
“Mukhang ayos naman kalagayan niya. Hindi naman ganun kalala yung injury,” he added.
As a sub for Tiangco, Magsumbol added eight markers for the Lady Tamaraws.
Giza Yumang topscored with 19 points, while Cindy Optana and Rossan Fajardo added 12 hits apiece for St. Benilde.
In the nightcap, Pau Soriano drained in 14 hits as Adamson scored a 25-17, 25-19, 25-21 triumph over National University to forge a four-way tie in third place at 1-1. T.J.
