UAAP SEASON 72 runner-up La Salle clobbered University of Perpetual Help System Dalta, 25-17, 25-15, 25-17, to snatch the women’s division crown in the National Intercollegiate Volleyball Championship Friday
at the University of the Cordilleras Gym in Baguio City.
The Lady Archers took the championship after winning all their seven games in the week-long event, including a five-game sweep of the eliminations.
The third UAAP squad in three years to win the title, La Salle made it to the finals by crushing St. Louis University, 25-8, 25-6, 25-15, in the semifinals late Thursday.
This is the second straight runner-up finish for the Lady Altas, who succumbed to the mighty frontline of Lady Archers veterans Stephanie Mercado, Charleen Cruz and Jacq Alarca.
Last year, Perpetual Help also finished second to Ateneo, which did not join due to commitments in the Shakey’s V-League. (TJ)
ADAMSON outdueled Ateneo in a thrilling five-set showdown, hacking out an 18-25, 25-17, 25-21, 21-25, 15-12 victory to clinch the top spot in Group B at the close of the Shakey’s V-League first conference eliminations late Thursday at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
THANKS to Lyceum’s straight set win over University of San Jose-Recoletos, College of Saint Benilde got a free ride to the Shakey’s V-League first conference quarterfinals.
